The S7-PCI315 PLC device can be reset to factory settings with a microSD card and the base firmware on it.

Requirements

  • The memory card can have up to max. 4 GB storage capacity.
  • The memory card must be formatted with the FAT16 format (no FAT32).
  • The SDHC format is not supported.

Preparation

Copy all files from the directory

C:\IBH softec GmbH\S7-PCI315\SD Image

including the file STARTUP.INI and the directory BACKUP and all subdirectories onto an empty micro SD card to the card's root directory.

Procedure

1. Have the SD card ready with the copied image.

2. Power down the PC that carries the card. If used, switch off the external power supply.

3. Insert the card into the SD card slot to the front of card.

4. Re-Power the PC.

The device loads the base firmware and indicates this by the following states of the SYS LED: Fast change between green and yellow (for appr. 8 s), then yellow on (for appr. 10 s), then off for a short moment and finally it turns to green on.

5. Remove the SD card from the SD card slot.

Startup sequence of S7-PCI315 PLC

1. In the first step, the PLC looks for a valid PLC program and configuration in the PLCs main memory. The content of the PLCs main memory is buffered with the battery.

2. If no valid PLC program and configuration is found in the PLCs main memory, the PLC seeks on the SD card for a valid main memory image.

3. If the SD card does not contain a memory image or if no SD card is inserted, the PLC uses the internal flash memory as storage. The contents of the internal flash, as well as the SD card, are kept without any power supply.
